Embedded slides (using Slideshare.net) from the first session about generations.

Link to Prezi.com presentation about the different generations from the G.I. Generation to Generation Z. (Hint: click the right-arrow in bottom left corner of the Prezi page to go through the presentation.)

Here are some of the resources about the generations:
PRO: Millennials are (like) so totally (like) different, and all that (like) jazz.
CON: Most of the stuff written about Digital Net-Gennials is a bunch of hooey.
Break Time --------

During part 2, we looked at a few different Web 2.0 tools:
  • My mindpamp of Web 2.0 tools (click on plus signs to expand each node)
  • We talked about wikis - you're looking at one right now, and MCAE members can use this as they like for MCAE information and communications.
  • I demonstrated Zoho Sheet, a free web-based spreadsheet that has much (but not all) of the same functionality as Microsoft Excel.
  • I showed part of a screen capture video created with Screencastle.
  • I used Netvibes as an example of how you can easily aggregate news items, blog posts, videos, podcasts, tweets (from Twitter), and many other kinds of content from the web.
  • I mentioned Michael Wesch's use of Netvibes with his students at Kansas State. Here's one of them.
